STEVE BROWN DDS

Dr. Steve Brown: World-Class Implant Dentist

Dr. Steve Brown founded the Dental Implant Place in 2007 after serving the DFW community since 1991. Seeking to raise the standard of care in implant dentistry, Dr. Brown created one of the first practices in the United States to provide every step of the implant process in one location.

Since then, hundreds of dentists from across the USA have traveled to DIP for advanced training in implant dentistry. This includes Dr. Brown's Minimally Invasive Approach, which minimizes surgical trauma and is practiced by handful of practices in the world.

Our office has been exclusively focused on implant care for over 18 years. As a result, our team's experience with implant dental care is extraordinary, with over 14,000 implants placed in our office.

MINIMALLY INVASIVE DENTAL IMPLANTS

Minimally Invasive Surgery: Our Signature Technique

Cutting. Drilling. Peeling. This is the norm in the industry, and we take a different approach.

At The Dental Implant Place, we use a signature technique called the Minimally Invasive Approach, which focuses on minimizing surgical trauma in our patients' treatment. Pioneered by Dr. Brown, the approach starts with finding the optimal size (or combination of sizes) for each patient’s implants using 360 degree CT Scans and state-of-the-art digital surgical guides for optimal placement. Then, during surgery, we place a tiny pinhole in the patient’s gums at each surgical site and and then gently rotate implant into place.

The Minimally Invasive Approach can increase comfort, sometimes drastically. Many of our patients report feeling very little pain during (and after) their surgery. Some even report feeling none! They also frequently report being able to chew solid foods within a few days! Less surgical trauma can also mean quicker healing, which can in turn mean waiting less time to receive your final prosthetic!

• What are dental implants?

Dental implants are essentially artificial tooth roots. They are typically made of titanium and are surgically placed into your jawbone. These implants act as a strong and stable foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. In some cases, a bridge with multiple crowns may be used to replace several missing teeth.

Here at The Dental Implant Place in Fort Worth, TX, Dr. Steve Brown and our experienced team focus exclusively in dental implants. We utilize advanced techniques like guided surgery for a minimally invasive approach. We even have an in-house dental lab, which helps speed up the turnaround time for your new smile. We serve the entire DFW area, including Dallas, Arlington, Weatherford, and Granbury. To learn more about how dental implants can restore your smile, we encourage you to schedule a free in-person consultation!!

• Am I a candidate for dental implants?

Determining if you are a candidate for dental implants is best done through a thorough evaluation, but generally speaking, good candidates have sufficient bone density in the jaw to support the implant. Small diameter and mini dental implants are both options for individuals with significant bone loss in the upper jaw. Bone grafts are also an option for patients with bone loss.

At The Dental Implant Place in Fort Worth, our minimally invasive surgical techniques allow us to regularly provide dental implants to patients who have experienced significant bone loss. With this approiach we have even provided dental implants for patients in their 90's, and we are often able to avoid additional procedures such as bone grafts and sinus lifts. We offer free in-person consultations to assess your specific situation and determine the best course of treatment.

Keep in mind that age, untreated gum disease, trauma, or prolonged tooth loss can contribute to bone loss, which may impact your candidacy.

The best way to know for sure if dental implants are right for you is to schedule a free consultation with Dr. Steve Brown at our Fort Worth office. We can assess your oral health, bone density, and overall health to create a personalized treatment plan. We also have in-house financing options available to make implants more accessible.

• How much do dental implants cost?

The cost of dental implants can vary quite a bit depending on your individual needs and the complexity and scope of the case. Based on a 2022 survey of over 70 offices across Texas, the average cost of a single tooth implant in Texas is a little over $5,000, while implant dentures and All-on-4 typically start at a little over $17,000 and $24,000 respectively. Please note that these are not our pricing at The Dental Implant Place - these are averages based on a survey of Texas practices.

In most cases, The Dental Implant Place pricing is well below these averages.

The best way to determine the exact cost for your specific situation is to schedule a free consultation here at The Dental Implant Place in Fort Worth. Dr. Brown can assess your needs, discuss your options, and provide you with a personalized treatment plan and cost estimate. With a CT scan, we can provide you with an exact price.

We also offer financing options, including in-house financing, to make dental implants more accessible, with rates starting as low as 0% for those who qualify! And because we focus exclusively on dental implants here, we're able to offer competitive pricing and exceptional expertise.

• Does insurance cover dental implants?

Some dental insurance plans offer limited coverage for dental implants, but the vast majority of plans don't cover implants at all, especially if you need more than a single tooth replaced. Insurance does, however, often help with the cost of extractions.

Those companies that do cover implants often come with higher premiums and limiting terms and conditions and likely won’t cover even the full cost of a single tooth replacement.

Because insurance plans vary so widely, the best way to determine if your insurance will help with the cost of dental implants is to contact your insurance provider directly. Keep in mind that The Dental Implant Place in Fort Worth, TX, offers free consultations to give you a cost estimate for your specific case. If your insurance does offer implant coverage, we are happy to help you file a claim so that you can be reimbursed directly. Additionally, we're happy to help you understand your potential benefits and explore our financing options which start as low as 0% to make your dental implant journey more affordable

• How long does the dental implant process take from start to finish?

The total time for the dental implant process varies depending on your specific needs and the type of implant procedure you're receiving.

At The Dental Implant Place in Fort Worth, we often use a "same-day implants" approach, which is far less invasive and helps accelerate healing compared to traditional methods. With this approach, you could potentially leave our office with new teeth on the same day as your procedure. We even offer temporary teeth to wear over your implants while you wait for your final set of new teeth.

Traditional dental implant procedures typically involve multiple visits over several months. This can include extractions (if needed) with healing time, implant surgery, suture removal, and placement of the abutment. However, with our minimally invasive approach, there are typically NO sutures or suture removal and since we don't use abutments, no separate appointments for placement of abutments. Combined with our all-in-one-location service, we can save you weeks or even months of time in your process!

• Do dental implants hurt (during or after surgery)?

At The Dental Implant Place in Fort Worth, we prioritize your comfort. Our minimally invasive approach typically means little to no swelling, which is the cause of most pain. While some discomfort is normal after any surgical procedure, most patients find dental implant surgery to be much more manageable than they initially anticipated. In fact, many of our patients have reported feeling no pain at all during and after their surgery!

In our office we offer two forms of sedation: oral conscious sedation and IV sedation. Oral conscious sedation is pill that relaxes you (like a sleeping pill) and reduces anxiety and is included in the cost of your procedure. IV sedation renders the patient completely unconscious for the entire surgery and is an aditional cost. After the procedure, any discomfort can usually be managed with over-the-counter or prescription pain medication, as recommended by Dr. Brown. Following our post-operative instructions carefully can also help minimize any discomfort and promote a smooth recovery. This may include a soft food diet depending on your specific case, though many of our patients have reported being able to eat any foods they want immediately following their procedure.

Every patient's experience is unique, so we encourage you to schedule a free consultation at our Fort Worth office. We'll be happy to answer all of your questions and discuss pain management options to ensure you feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire process.

• What are the risks or possible complications of dental implants?

While dental implants have a very high success rate, like any surgical procedure, there are potential risks and complications to be aware of. Some possible complications include infection, excessive bleeding, nerve damage, and sinus problems (specifically sinus rupture, especially in the upper jaw in the event of a sinus lift).

Infection is a risk following any surgery. Studies show that a small percentage of patients may develop an infection after dental implant placement. This usually occurs within the first month and can potentially lead to implant failure if not addressed promptly. Signs of infection can include localized swelling and pain around the implant, or a fever. Another factor to consider is smoking, which can significantly impact healing and increase the risk of infection. According to the NIH, smokers have a higher chance of getting an infection in their implants.

It's important to remember that at The Dental Implant Place in Fort Worth, TX, Dr. Steve Brown and our team use a minimally invasive approach to minimize these risks. We also offer free in-person consultations to thoroughly assess your individual situation and plan for the best possible outcome.

• How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants are designed to be a long-lasting solution for missing teeth. Studies show that dental implants have a high success rate, around 95% after ten years. With proper care and maintenance, they can even last for decades or even a lifetime.

Several factors influence the longevity of dental implants. Maintaining excellent oral hygiene through regular brushing, flossing, and antibacterial mouthwash is key to preventing infections and complications. The quality of materials used is also important; for example, high-quality materials like Zirconia can contribute to long-term success. The skill and precision of your dentist during the implant placement are also crucial for proper integration with the bone. Your overall health and lifestyle choices, like avoiding smoking, also play a significant role.

• What options are there if I’m missing all my teeth (implant dentures / full-arch)?

If you're missing all your teeth, we offer a couple of excellent options here at The Dental Implant Place in Fort Worth to restore your smile and chewing function.

One option is implant-supported dentures, also known as "snap-in dentures." These dentures are anchored by dental implants, providing much more stability and comfort than traditional dentures that rely on adhesives. Because they’re secured with implants, you won't have to worry about them slipping or shifting when you eat or speak. Plus, they’re removable for easy and thorough cleaning. Implant supported dentures are also more affordable than options such as All-on-4 or Zirconia bridges. We prefer the snap in design to All-on-4, as they allow you to fully remove and clean your acrylic prosthetic, which you cannot do with All-on-4. We've seen patients get 10 years or more out of the same prosthetic with proper maintenance!

The other option is a what we call "fixed" - full-arch zirconia bridge or bridges. Zirconia is a hard material that looks like natural tooth, fits naturally over your implants like natural teeth, and allows you to chew with and clean your teeth just like you would your natural teeth!

• What if I don’t have enough bone—do I need a bone graft?

Whether or not you need a bone graft depends on the amount of bone you have available. When you lose a tooth, the surrounding bone can begin to recede over time. This means that some patients considering dental implants may not have sufficient bone or bone density to support a traditional implant.

The good news is that bone grafting is often a viable solution! Bone grafting helps to rebuild bone, creating a stable foundation for your dental implant. We also offer mini dental implants, which are smaller in diameter and may be an option with even less bone. And with our minimally invasive surgical approach, we are often able to avoid bone grafting entirely!

To determine the best course of treatment for you, including whether a bone graft is necessary, we recommend scheduling a free in-person consultation with Dr. Brown to assess your specific needs.
